I love the word “revival.” It has a simple meaning: “to come back to life, consciousness, or full strength… to bring somebody back to life, consciousness, or full strength.” Let me see if I can tell you what it means to me: revival is another opportunity to walk on the dirt that could be covering your casket six feet under… revival is another opportunity to smile when you could be getting your last bath from the funeral home… revival is another opportunity to trust God when you could be facing this world all be yourself… revival is another opportunity to be thankful for the things you have because you could be a “have not”. That’s why I like “revival.”
What I want to know is: does anybody need revival? I’m hoping it’s you. Yea, I know your life may have been hard growing up, but you’re grown up now. I know that you may have been forced out your job, but you have one now. I know you have never felt loved back, but you do now. So in essence you’ve been revived. The Bible says…
“Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.” Psalm 80:18
Yea, I know people talk about you, lie to you, slander your name. It’s because they’re jealous of your blessings, tripped you up when you walk because they wanted the directions to where you were going and even tried to pull you down from your elevation because they wanted to beat you to the top, but the Bible says, “May You increase my greatness, and turn to comfort me.” Psalm 71:21 – which tells us God is doing some reviving.
Friend, you don’t have to look for your present in your past because you ain’t going to find it there. You don’t have to look for a new way to live because it’s already on the inside of you and all you have to do is revive it. How? CALL ON HIS NAME!
You see, getting revived means were getting our spirits refreshed which renews us to a better place than we’ve ever been before and allows us to be ready to rebuild what has been torn down… reap from what has been sown in God’s soil… reach our goals that have become reachable with God’s power… recover from the traps the devil thought would take us out… release the chains that have bound us for way too long… remove the shades from the windows so we can let the sun come in… repent for the sins we’ve made… repair any relationships that we’ve broken… and resolve any hurt that we’ve caused.
Here’s my word of encouragement for you today: Might it be that you need some reviving today? We’ll start calling on His name. Start lifting up the sweet name of Jesus and let Him revive, rejuvenate, rekindle, renovate, restore and resuscitate you today. He’s willing and able. Just ask!
Revitalize me today. In Jesus name I ask this, Amen.
