I hope you don’t mind, but I just need to draw our attention back to Resurrection yet one more time. The Bible tells us “For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.” 1 Corinthians 15:16-19
I thought of that today because most of us love the Resurrection of our Savior. However we generally don’t do much with it. We’re not like over the top excited about it… we’re not like crazy in love with the truth that we have life in Jesus… we’re not beating the bushes telling everyone the great news. We just accept it and are happy and content. It’s a part of the fabric of our lives and now we must move on.
But let me tell you how I think we should be. One day a man came up to Jesus. He had leprosy. He shouldn’t have come as close as He did, but what did he have to lose. He fell on his face before Jesus and said to Him, “If you are willing, You can make me clean.” Mark 1:40
That touched the heart of Jesus. He stretched out His hand and touched the leper, which was forbidden. You weren’t supposed to even come close to them and then He healed him. Then Jesus told the man not to tell anyone but just go to the priest and offer the sacrifice for his cleansing that was required of him.
Now most of us would be elated we were healed. Our life was restored and we could rejoin society… be reunited with our family and friends… get back to a routine in life. We would probably run to the priest to take care of that small piece of business, but then we would be free and clear. Am I right?
But not this guy. This guy told every person he could what Jesus did for him. He was in a sense, dead, but now he was alive. He went up every street corner and into every pub. Every person he met got an ear full of how great Jesus was and what He had just done for the man. Here’s what the Bible tells us…
“But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news about, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.” Mark 1:45
Here’s my word of encouragement for you today: Jesus rose from the dead. He’s alive. Are you? What has He done for you and who needs to hear about it today?
Come to life in me. I thank You and praise You for all that You’ve done for me. I will tell em all. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
