I know for most people our Resurrection celebrations seem like a million days ago. But every time I pick up my Bible, it’s totally refreshed in my mind. For example, today I was reading about the walls of Jericho that were preventing the people of Israel from coming in and taking it down.
As I thought about that wall, all I could imagine was a huge wall constructed with larger boulders and mortar. It was thick and it was high. We’re told, that because the Israelites were camped nearby, nobody was allowed to leave the city and nobody was allowed to enter the city. They were in total lockdown! The gates were not to be opened.
It was then I started thinking about some people in my life who are going through some tough times. Some see their problem and are dealing with it… others don’t see the problem and acting as if everything is OK… still others don’t think they have a problem and are lying to themselves. All have a huge wall in front of them, preventing them from receiving all God is getting ready for them. If you’re one of those let me encourage you with the Word today.
I don’t know what you’re facing, but trust me when I tell you, you have to trust God and take Him at His Word. See, the people who are fighting against you really don’t have a problem with you but they’re afraid of the anointing within you. The Bible tells us, “Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and not one came in.” Joshua 6:1
Stop fighting those people!
Here’s the next thing: You have to take God at His word. Joshua 6:2 says, “… the LORD said to Joshua, ‘See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the valiant warriors.” You got to believe God has given you the assignment and it’s not a matter of “if” it will happen, but “when” it will happen!
Another thing… you have to have some people who are willing to stand with you even when it’s not their battle because you can’t do it alone. I don’t care how strong you think you are, you can’t do it by yourself. Joshua 6:3 tells us, “And you shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do so for six days.”
But not only can you not do it alone, you also need a spiritual covering. Joshua 6:4 says, “Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets or ram’s horns before the ark…” You don’t ever want to get into a battle without spiritual covering.
Lastly, get ready to go get what’s yours. Read this! “… then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priest shall blow the trumpets. And it shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead.” Joshua 6:4b-5
Here’s my word of encouragement for you today: I don’t know what stone is preventing you from moving forward, but know this, Resurrection Day is about moving stones! Go to the empty tomb for yourself and start bringing down your walls!
I’ll raise my voice today, bringing down the walls that are keeping me out. In Jesus name I pray this pray this, Amen.
